Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
|
| |
General
-
How much does BPRocs
cost?
There is no
cost to Bullock Professional lab customers.
-
Do I need a program CD
and how do I keep BPRocs up to date?
BPRocs installs easily from the internet.
Each time the software is launched it will automatically update with the
latest features.
-
Does BPRocs eliminate
filling out paperwork when placing lab orders?
Yes. Since your order is completed online, no
further paperwork will be needed.
-
How is my order sent?
After reviewing your order, you can send it
via the internet, save and send it later, or save it to a CD and drop
into one of our prepaid mailers to the lab.
-
How will I know that
you received my BPRocs order?
After your order and images are
received and parsed into Bullock Professional darkrooms, an email will
automatically be sent back. The email will have the lab's Order
ID# and a summary of what was ordered. If you do not receive an
email within 2 hours from completion of the upload, please call Customer
Service 1.888.Bullock. (To avoid duplicate orders, do not resend
until you have spoken with Customer Service.)
-
Can I change my order
after it's been sent?
It's important to review your order before
sending as a request to make changes may be too late. As your order is received it will
automatically be entered into production systems and the photographic
paper will begin exposing.
-
What do I need to do to
begin using BPRocs?
Contact Bullock Professional and request startup info. Our
Customer Service will contact you to insure the BPRocs is properly
installed on your computer(s) and go over features and workflow.
Tips
-
IMPORTANT- Backup your BPRocs Designer Templates!
To avoid accidental loss of the many templates
you've created in BPRocs' Designer, it's important to periodically copy
and paste the file called 'templates.xml.enc' to another safe backup
location (local or external hard drive).
This important templates.xml.enc file can be found in the
following location:

When uploading orders,
I'm having some problems with Internet Connection Interruption
especially on large 1000 mb orders. Any tip?
BPRocs is very intuitive when it comes
to uploading. If for some reason there's an interruption of your
internet service during the send process, it will automatically wait 5
minutes and attempt to reconnect and take up where it left off. It will
do this up to 5 times. Please check your BPRocs send Settings as
instructed below:
How to verify your 'Send Settings' in BPRocs:
1. Click on 'Open & Save' 2. Select 'Show Queued/Previous Orders' 3. Click 'Settings' 4. Verify that the 'Number of times to retry' is set to 5 5. Verify that the 'Minutes between retry attempts' is set to 5 6. Click 'OK'
Troubleshooting
-
BPRocs erratic shutdown
/ windows & buttons, etc. not working normally
The
BPRocs program uses the universally accepted Java software usually
already loaded on your computer. Over time, more than one version
of Java may have been downloaded or Java has been corrupted. We
recommend removing all current Java versions and downloading the
recommended version to prevent erratic operation. (It may also free up some
space on your computers.)
How to remove all Java and then reinstall the recommended version of Java:
1. Click on your Windows 'Start' button 2. Click on 'Control Panel' then 'Add Remove Programs' 3. Scroll down to the 'J's' and remove each Java program that
begin with the word 'Java' or 'J2SE' 4. Restart computer (always a good idea before installing
any software.) 5. Download the latest recommended Java for
Windows XP-Click
Here ( for Windows Vista -
Click Here) 6. Select the 'Save' option and place the download in your 'My
Documents' folder (note the name of this file) 7. After the program finished downloading, navigate to this file
in your 'My Documents' folder. 8. Click on this Java file to install. 9. Once Java is installed, go to
www.BPRocs.com, scroll down to the
black bar and click on the word 'Smart'. This will re-initialize your BPRocs using the new
version of Java just installed. 10. To reinstall the BPRocs shortcut on your desktop, see the
instructions below.

I've lost the
'Designer' templates window and can't find it
This can occur if you had
a window off to the side and change your screen resolution which moved
it off the visible are of your screen. To reset your BPRocs
windows, remove the .BullockPro.properties file which is located
in the .BullockPro folder under the user for the computer. Then go
to www.BPRocs.com
and click on the word 'Smart' to relaunch BPRocs from our website.

Preferences boxes
missing &/or graphics not showing correctly in BPRocs
BPRocs uses the standard WinXP program and
icon themes which may have been altered. Go to Control
Panel/Appearance and Themes/Change Computer's Theme/Themes tab - change
theme from 'custom' back to the standard WinXP theme.
-
BPRocs is slow creating
(not sending) an order with several hundred images & locks up from time
to time This could be a Java issue on Vista
computers with large amounts of RAM (2GB+). We have a special launch
site which will double the amount of memory used by the Java application
that operates BPRocs.
1.) Open the Java Control Panel by clicking on: START/CONTROL PANEL
2.) Double Click the most recent version of Java
3.) On the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files
click on View to view the applications using Java
4.) Right Click on the BPRocs application and
click Delete
5.) Click on this link:
www.softworksroes.com/ROES/labs/BullockPro/launchRAM.jnlp
Note:
If you'd like to confirm that you are now using the 1GB+ Java launch
version open the Java Control Panel again
(see steps 1-2 above)
1.) Click on Advanced tab. Click on the +Java Console to
expand. Click on Show Console then Apply/OK
2.) Launch your BPRocs (that was installed from the link above) and
the Java Console will open as BPRocs launches.
3.) This
will show the console as BPRocs is launching. The last line should look
something like this:
"Startup complete,
memory used/free/total/max [MB]: 32/19/51/1016, on 1
cores."
(The max value is what
you're looking for - if it's in the 500's you're not getting the 1GB
version.)
-
I am seeing some images
in BPRocs turn dark, red, or not appearing at all when trying to put
them into a product - what causes this? Different cameras and their image extraction software will occasionally
embed a non-RGB colorspace (like CMYK or proprietary ones) or add EXIF
header data. In these cases, while the thumbnails appear fine, Java is
unable to render the full image into a product - they will appear
darkened, hued, or not render at all.
This issue has occurred since the release of Java 1.5, so removing all
Java versions and reinstalling BPRocs will prompt to install the
final Java 1.4 version. Java 1.4 did not have any issues handling the
non-standard colorspace and renders the image fine upon placement into a
product. Converting these images to standard sRGB in Photoshop and/or
removing the EXIF header data will allow the image to be rendered in a
product.

What are some other reasons
the BPRocs won’t start or may not transmit to the lab?
There could be other rare reasons why BPRocs may not start up, or in
some cases not transmit to the lab. If you have cleaned up and installed
Java (see above) and things still aren't running smoothly, go
through these steps in order and always end with cleaning out Temporary
Internet Files:
1) Windows XP Service Pack 2 – Settings of the new Windows Firewall can
prevent the client from launching or creating an FTP connection. Try
turning the firewall off or set it to prompt for exceptions such as FTP.
2) Various Anti-Virus Applications – We have found that the home use
versions of the Norton Internet Security/Antivirus and McAfee Security
applications can prevent the client from starting. Try disabling these
temporarily if the client will not start and turning them back on after
successfully starting and installing shortcuts. To do this, open Control
Panel and Administrative Tools and go into Services. Find the Norton or
McAfee security services (proxy agent, firewall, network monitor, etc.),
right-click on them and select Stop.
3) Internet Explorer (IE) Security Settings – If set to high may block
the ActiveX calls made during the BPRocs launch. Try resetting Internet
Explorer’s security levels (found in IE under Tools – Internet Options –
Security tab) to default.
4) Internet Explorer Pop-Up Blocker – This is a new option that installs
with Windows XP SP2. Try turning this off in Internet Explorer under
Tools – Pop-up Blocker.
5) Clear out your Internet Explorer cache – This can be done in IE under
Tools – Internet Options. On the first tab, General, look in the center
section marked Temporary Internet Files and select Delete Files. Click
OK at the confirmation window, wait for the mouse pointer to return to
normal from the hourglass, and try the client launch again.
6) If you have run BPRocs before on the system and it is suddenly
failing with an Invocation Exception error, after clearing out Temporary
Internet Files in the steps above, remove the BPRocs application from
Java Web Start to ensure a fresh download and install. Select Start -
Run, type javaws.exe and press Enter. When the Java Web Application
Viewer opens, find the BPRocs/Bullock Professional application and
highlight it. In Java 1.4, select Application and Remove. In Java 1.5,
click the button at the bottom to Remove Selected Application. This will
remove BPRocs from your system along with any desktop shortcuts and call
Bullock Professional (1.888.Bullock) to get reinstallation instructions.
7) Last but not least, we have had two customers whose DSL Modem
(from Alltel) was internally blocking outgoing uploads and images.
They called Alltel and explained they were unable to upload from the
computer. Alltel remotely re-configured their DSL modem's internal
firewall settings and BPRocs immediately began sending normally.
